Hey everybody,
I have a 15 CL2, I just replaced the 1/5 HP Dayton motor for another
identical one due to the fact that the original one crapped out after it's
estimated 300 hours of use.
As I installed the new motor I made sure I left the belt in the same
position. That is in the smaller diameter pulley on the motor side and
naturally the larger diameter pulley on the spindle side. In other words I
have it set up for maximum torque.
It ocurred to me that I would measure the RPM with a hand tachometer. It is
a mechanical device (unlike the laser one that shoots a beam at a reflective
spot of a shaft.) It only reaches an RPM of 4000. Then I Manual Data Inputed
M03 S1000. To my surprie I registered 3500 RPM on my hand tachometer. My
question is why? I don't get it. I'm assuming it's a software issue. Does
anybody know how to fix it? I'm also assuming that the previous motor was
acting just the same, I simply didn't measure the speed before.
I am also wondering how much tension do I need to have on the belt? Is a
1/4" of flex on the belt enough?
Thanks,
Alex
