It's fairly clear from the words! Sounds like it might work.

You might want to bore the outboard end of the pipe and put a bearing
(sleeve or ??) in it to help support the cut off drive shaft.

If it doesn't, I have a spindle design you can easily adapt for your
purposes. It's one I've got designed for the DreamMachines. All you'd need
to adapt is the housing.
This one would allow you to put in something bigger than R8 if you wanted
too. You'd have to make all the parts but it will be a lot stronger than
using the right angle drive.
