I don't know if the lack of filtering has anything to do with conducted EMI
on the power input lines, but it clearly does on the wires to the motor.
I had to put a power input filter on the supply wires to my VFD to keep
my computer-controlled air compressor from going haywire. it also
cleared up snow on the video monitor for my CNC system, but otherwise,
the CNC system was immune to the EMI sent through the power wires.
I expect to have to put filtering on the VFD I will hook up for my new
lathe. I will probably have to build a filter for that, as it is a big VFD
(10 Hp).
