Hi Alan,

Nope, I didn't write it either. I guess it came from the fertile mind
of Mr. Kowalczyk. Sorry if i misled you. I could probably go in and
hack it if I needed to though.

FWIW, I also have a machine that seems to cause the step stream to
become very ragged. I'm pretty sure I even tried booting to a DOS
diskette
but that didn't help. I came to the conclusion that it's something in
the BIOS.

One thing about the MSDOS.SYS file is that it has the "hidden" attribute
bit set. This may be why you're not seeing it.
