Like familiar ball-bearings, the nut is "connected" to the screw via BALLS,
which ROLL, rather than "slide", as does cut-threads/nuts. Thus, the
ball-screw is smoother and friction-free (efficiencies up in the 90%'s) and
they can be manufactured very, very precise. Even smoothly-ground
"precision" ACME, etc., screws have more friction.

BUT! Making ball-screws costs beaucoup $$ more than ACME, and handling, use,
etc., requires experience many of us don't have until we complete the third
M.S. or at least first PhD in M.E.!
