I've never seen the underbelly of a Taig mill, so I am wondering if
there is any room at all to install the above mentioned anti-backlash
nuts. Just about anything can be retrofitted, as long as there is
room!

Yes, I have seen this number stated at their site (must have been
Taig's site, can't find it on the MicroProto site). I would rather
not rely on software compensation. I think many here would echo that
sentiment.
