I have a job that I run every few months, which up til last time or two
always seemed to have lost steps while in the cut. It never happened except
at that one point in the one job. IE, in every other case that axis
followed perfectly. I sorted thru everything I could on feeds, cut depth,
spindle speed and did a lot of swapping around on drivers, etc. In the end
the cure was adding inertia to the screw. I hate to admit it, but I had
ignored folks on that point for some time. My suggestion is, if somebody
gives you a handle to hold, you should hold it.
