Lalit,
This is my second go at a reply, something definately went wrong with
my first reply.
Questions I have on EDM system as follows:-
1. Does the system need specific software? ie. I understand that the
commercial machines reverse the wire out of the cut once a short is
detected, then proceed back into the cut for another "bite" at the
profile. Do your machines function in this way or is it standard CNC
where the machine tool axis trace out the profile in a continuous
motion. (I have a vert/horiz mill with Ah-Ha CNC retrofit which I
would like to use to control the wire EDM system)
2. Why does the machine you have built need 2 passes of the wire?
3. What is you spark generator method? PCB, capacitors and power
resistors?
4. Do you have electronics to control the recharge cycle once a short
is detected
5. Is the design a published document? If your propriatory design,
can others buy the design?
I am researching this project with the intention to build a system
later this year. I do not have sufficient electronics / software
knowledge to design my own. I did basic electonics theory in college
about 15 years ago - a lot of water has gone under the bridge since
then. Mechanical components to build the system are not a problem. I
have a reasonable home shop and would like a wire cutter to aid in a
long term project of a live steam loco.
Hoping this reply gets on the usergroup.
Thanks for your reply in advance.

for OT subjects, that are not allowed on the CCED list.
