We have had this conversation before. Mark stated "specifically" Name
me one low cost LATHE repeat Lathe!! program, in pounds OR dollars
that can do the ALL the following:-
Rought turning
Finish turning
Contouring
Groove,
Part off
Screwcut
Support both front and back tools in the same program.
Work with a defined blank shape, ie a casting or forging.
Write the code for simple parts without a drawing by MDI.

And yes the lathe module at this time is still a DOS program.
So ? It opens up automatically from the Windows 32 bit drawing
program.
It's being written for windows at this time but to be honest I don't
see how they can improve it other than cosmetically.
There are a lot of Mastercam users here in the UK who use the Dolphin
lathe module over Mastercam as being quicker and easier. Doesn't that
say something.
I welcome the change to windows but to be honest there is nothing
wrong with DOS. Ther are still many high end controllers out there
that are still DOS based or similar. Take your Fanuc's. Why not scap
them and get newer windows controllers. Why ? because they work. No
one ever questions something like this after they have made a $30,000
purchase but they always want the low cost stuff to be able to do
everthing.
