Hello Fred and thanks for chipping in.

In answer to your point about me being misinformed - I don't think I
am.

Vector is a good program, but Dolphin is very strong in the
facilities it provides for lathe work and this is after all where
thread cutting is usually done.

The Lathe Module in Dolphin is a DOS program and works very well
using the mouse and menu system: this is soon to become a Windows
application. (Now June I am told)

The Milling Module in Dolphin also allows the cutting of threads - I
have recently defined a Hobbing Cutter in Dolphin complete with form
relief.

In addition to the above, Dolphin Lathe Module allows the user to
perform grooving, trepaning, and internal threading functions - all
at the click of a mouse.

One last point that may be of use to some people. All Windows
applications are duplicated with DOS close equivalents, this brings
along with it the opportunity to utilise the same, possibly low-
powered, computer that runs the machine tool itself, to create the
design and g-code.
