That will depend on the hardware and software feeding the board. The speed
I could achieve with my Sherline mill increased by severalfold when I
switched from DeskNCrt to CNC Pro on the same PC and hardware setup. I'm
getting well over 3000 steps/sec reliably (200MHz Winchip PC, 24V power
supply), but have my rapids set at 20ipm (~2700 steps/sec) to conserve the
mill ways.
