Correct. 4-wire=bipolar. 6-wire (or, rare, 5-wire)=unipolar.
8-wire=either, depending on how you connect the 8.

For bipolar, today, the ultimate choice is Gecko, either their G201 or G210.
The latter is more versatile. You need to supply your own DC power-supply
with those. The "white paper" that accompanies those (when ordered) "tells
all you need to know" to get 'em working.

I do NOT work for Gecko! LOL! Just GOOD stuff! Jan
