Hi Lew,

Don't get mixed up here between the American 220 volts 3-phase and our 440
volts 3-phase. You cannot expect to run a 3-phase 220 volt motor on single
phase without some phase shifting and generating the third phase.

| Have you checked the motor plate on the mill? Many 3ph motors can be
| wired (simple change; instructions usually on the plate or under "wiring
| entrance" cover) for 220 or 440.
