44 kVA? Yikes, that's a lot of power. Is that a 100 A service? Or is it
173 A per phase?

Oh, I don't think you want a delta 440 V service, but I gather that UK single-phase
service is floating, anyway, so maybe it doesn't matter. But, if they put in a
440 V delta system, you are going to have to come up with some gear, a pad-mount
transformer, at least, to get your residental 220 supply. A 440 V L-L service
would give 254 V L-N, but that is only if a Wye service is installed. That would
probably need 5 wires from the pole, at least in the US.
