I would be very interested in seeing pictures. I have an Enco mill that was
converted by Anilam to 3 Axis cnc. They used the qill for the z axis and it
is very limited (4" of travel). I have been thinking about making the knee
the third axis and would be interested in seeing how you did it.

With all of your help and advise I have retrofitted
a 9x42 Enco knee mill. It has taken almost a year to
get this far. The setup is a 600 in oz servo/ EMC / gecko drive.
The x and y axis are working, and with any luck I will have the
z axis working soon. The excitement is incredible!!!
Again I must say that this has been made possible by the great
generousity and deep knowledge of the group. Thank You!
I have rigged the mill with a pully and counterweight to
help my little servos lift the knee. Pictures are available
if anyone is interested.
If my memory serves me, it seems that someone calculated the
weight of the knee assembly on a 9 x 42 mill. Does anyone recall?
