Actually, Tim is right on the money here - I think he was giving you honest
practical advice, not sarcasm. And from my reading of his past posts, his
advice is generally worth listening to.
But to answer your question, twisted pairs are usually used to carry the
source and sink of a signal - so that any induced voltage in one half of
the pair is near enough cancelled by a corresponding induced voltage in the
other half. So no, the choice would not be to put 2 signals in the same
pair, regardless of what they were, but to pair each signal with its
reference voltage or ground. However, as Tim observes, you may find that
this is not a practical necessity.
