I vote for number 4.
1 - That is how the machine is designed to work
2 - It is very accurate with no backlash (amazing what ground ballscrews
driving 1500 lbs or so of knee will do for you)
3 - It already moves fast enough to mess your britches
4 - The point is to produce parts not machine modifications
