Jeff, listen to Tim and Dave!!!!! Hook up to any 2 of the coils you've
found by the continuity tests and go for it. Label each wire and make
a table of results. You are not going to hurt that big stepper
(unless your drive is blown). Play with all combinations of the coils
(if you are trying to go full coil). They will either work or sit
there humming. I wasted too much time being over cautious my self. I
could see the need for caution if these were delicate small motors
and you had a 7amp drive.
Those bridgeport stepper motors could take pulse up to 160vdc and
about 7amps with the orig BP drives. The 160vdc got the motor coil
quickly up to current, then the supply backed off to about 12vdc to
maintain the current. Increased slew-rate.
