Tim,
First me, and now another... Are you having a bad day?
While the information of your post is accurate, its tone is uncalled
for, IMO.
Do you remember when you were new to something, and were afraid of
breaking some hard-to-find, or expensive, or just otherwise "scary"
parts? (not everyone feels safe around ANYthing electrical, which is
how I read his post; he doesn't want to "wreck" his motors!)
So here is a new member of the hobbyist cnc group, being told to
just "stop procrastinating, and hook the damn things up". Is this
what people who join CCED have to look forward to from the groups'
lead moderator? I wonder if you tell Bill W the same thing, since he
has recently shared his long and ongoing rebuild of the Compact5
Lathe?
How about we answer the questions, and keep our "judgements" out of
it.
As an example:
Jeff,
You won't likely hurt your motor if you connect the coils
incorrectly. I think your motor does not match the one you have
documents of. So go ahead and connect it in various ways. It will
just sit and hum, or buzz if you get it wrong. Keep trying, that's
one of the prices of "surplus" motors<G>
Hope this helps,
Ballendo
P.S. I think Mariss has said that you CAN hurt a DRIVE, if you hook
up an 8 wire motor incorrectly!
