Doug,

I disagree on this. While it is good to understand G-code there is no
reason you should have to be limited in what you can machine by your
understanding of the language. As an example, if I want to machine some
3-D organic shapes and I can get them drawn in Rhino, why should I not
be able to drop them into DeskCNC, VisualMill, STLWorks, or any of the
other 3-D CAM programs and machine them as a beginner? The reality is
even with years of toiling on manual g-code there are many parts that I
probably could not hand code, but the programs will handle without a
problem.
