Who or what is this "board"?
IMHO there are many programs that would "fit into the hobby market" that you
have not mentioned. The fact is, there are excellent CAD/CAM and CNC
machining software available for FREE!

You'll be facing a substantial learning curve no matter what software you
choose to work with. Your experience with Word and Excel should not be a
hindrance, but, simply is not relevant.
Since you are self-taught then I would imagine you would learn well with
Unstructured Instruction in this field that I offer. I would be happy to
discuss this with you off the list...
