Thank you, Ross - I'm more or less sure now what to do.
Will place sprocket directly on the shaft of stepper, then pull carriage in
a loop by the chain.
Low part count and more or less straight forward.

on whet you intend to do with the machine, .0015 or so might be fine. I
doubt you would be happy with .007 though. This is exactly why I went to
lead screws.
