Yes , its only one stage, the stroke is about 3'.

Basically one angle is a base, put in place in advance. Then I put second
angle

So plates just slide one agains other in one direction?

Can you drop a scetch of this arrangement?
It is probably a very good idea, but a bit hard to visualize.
