Hi,
I've used the Xylotex 3 axis board on my Taig CNC Mill. I was using the
standard Taig ~200oz/in Uni-polar motors. The motors were wired to the
Xylotex board in 1/2 phase mode (1 wire to the centre tap, the other to one
of the coil ends).
I used a 24VDC linear power supply to power the steppers.
This set-up worked very well. Maximum rapid speed using Mach1 was ~60ipm.
I can't see why it won't have similar performance compared to the gecko for
this size of machine.
The usual disclaimer applies. No relationship with Jeff from Xylotex, other
than a happy customer.
Cheers,
Peter Homann

Dave,
I am not changing. I have geckos on sherline and I am looking for a
new CNC for my new taig I just got. I am trying to find out if the
xylotex will work as well as the gecko...My volt/current are low I am
wondering if xylotex will give me the same speed and power.
