Well, applying the pencil in the normal manner doesn't cause continuity
(except perhaps on the 10 Meg Ohm scale). Maybe the blasting of the
graphite would be different. I would think rubbing it with an ink eraser
would clean it up, though.

I think if you work from the inside out, it should work in most cases.
If you
had closed tracks (like a guard ring) that might be a problem, but you
just do
everything inside the ring first.
