filter ? what's a filter ? ?:)

I have a 5 gallon bucket on the shelf and a 5 gallon under the work.
it uses somewhere around a quart or two per hour.

The sediment is black and fluffy. I'm still looking for a good or
acceptable flocculent. (a substance that will help particulates
coagulate and fall out of the water)

I'm asuming that the flushing is poor at best, just peeing on the
outside of the electrode, and the tap flutes probably let a lot of
sediment past so now, I'm trying to get past the sediment as well as
the tap.
