Insulating D-shell from chassis?

I'm building chassis for my Xylotex controllers, and I need to insulate the
female D connector from the chassis to prevent a ground loop in the signal
path.

Does anyone have a good/elegant way to do this? My choices seem to be to:

1. Inlet a piece of non-conductive material in the front panel and mount
the D connector to this.

2. Use an all-plastic D connector (without metal grommets at the mounting
holes) and non-metallic mounting hardware.

3. Mount the D connector as usual, and cut a piece out of the parallel
cable shield adjacent to the driver box end. Since the cable is
pre-terminated, I can't get a piece of heatshrink on it and would need to
use electrical tape.

All 3 ideas sound kludgy to me. Any suggestions/experience?
