I'm curious, I your spindle motor one of the treadmill motors??? I'm about
ready to mount one on my Taig Mill and have another for the lathe.

An idea comes to mind from old EMI-RFI issues on computers. Could you
mount your motor driver/speed control within a few inches of the motor,
and then enclose everything in a box of perf aluminum? This make a very
good EMI-RFI shield and coupled with the electronics of the speed control
might solve your problem, and still give the air flow to keep things at a
working temperature.

An interesting problem. I'll be glad to see the solution.
