Thanks to those who responded to my questions regarding the power
supply for my big steppers. I decided to order a new transformer
and lower the voltage a bit. I didn't like the idea of the diodes
because as Jon pointed out the mains act as a big capacitor when the
motors change direction, and the resistors would have to be fairly
large in size to handle the current requirements of my system.
Over the weekend I tried to install the BDI-EMC on the pc I plan to
use and the install would hang. I suspect it may be due to my dual-
boot setup, and I am just going to get a new drive and start from
scratch. The install did raise a few questions in my mind, however:
1. It seems the Morphix versions of BDI are the latest and
greatest. How would one go about editing their ini files and making
the changes permanent and burn new cd's with those changes? Could I
put the emc ini files on a floppy, for example, and tell EMC to look
for the ini files on the floppy?
2. Is anyone running EMC with Redhat 9?
Regards, Bob
