OK, no doubt about it, that's an encoder for sure! No reason to mess
with it
any further, except to figure out what wire does what. Since you have the
whole system, it might be possible to power up some part of it to get power
to the encoders, then you could figure out the power and signal wires.

But, I don't know what you are going to do with 2 encoders per axis. I
don't know of any PC software that can handle that!
