drawing software

I need a recommendation on a drawing program. Just finished a few months of
chipping away at learning AutoCAD at the local high school in the evenings.
Not the monster I thought it would be, but geez, its huge.

At any rate, I'm getting a Dan Mauch system in a few weeks for my mill. I
bought Mach2 to run the new controls, and I need drawing software now.
Unlike the big places, I cannot go out and spend a few grand on the drawings
software. So I need a recommendation on something priced more like the
Mach2 program, even if it has some inherent limitations. I'll learn to work
around them.
