Mike,
I use CorelDraw and it does just about everything I need. Admittedly it's
not a CAD program, but for quickly and easily creating 2D objects I find it
superb. I use it in my sign business in conjunction with a CNC router to cut
plex, aluminum, and other soft substrate. Corel is a very intuitive program
that will create objects with enough precision to do what I need. It will
export DXF, eps, AI, and various other file formats. I highly recommend it.
