I sell TurboCADCAM and will offer a good discount to anyone in the group who
might be interested. I have stock and can do immediate shipment, but I have
been too busy with other things to list it as a product for sale on our web
site. I think we can offer it for $270 within the group. I will probably
post it on our web site eventually for $395 or so. List price is something
silly like $995.
TurboCAD is good 3D with decent rendering and lighting, but the CAM only
does 2-1/2 D, no complex surfaces.
I find TurboCAD particularly useful in that it supports so many CAD formats.
I find it does better with some DXF files than Autosketch. Anybody who
slams TurboCAD is probably basing their opinion on 5 year old freeware. The
professional version is actually very good.
I like TurboCADCAM for prototyping work because it works interactively with
the drawing. If you change the drawing in the design, the CAM section will
refigure all the motions as necessary, no need to replan the CAM work.
Built in tool tables, feeds & speeds calculator, with materials database
selection, and 3-D motion simulation. Just to make it clear, TurboCADCAM
includes a full TurboCAD, it's not just a CAM software, it's the full CAD
software with CAM included and tightly integrated.
I think that TurboCADCAM is an excellent solution for the sort of work that
most people do on machines, but it's not for mold making or 3-D sculpture
work. Dolphin, Vector, and others will be better choices if you have
complex surfaces that you want to machine. I would also recommend the more
expensive CAM packages if you want a lot of hand-holding on phone support.
I don't offer phone support on CAM and IMSI (TurboCAD company) only offers
it as a fee based service. Fred and the other CAM specialists are your best
choice if you think you will have lots of questions.
