I use TurboCad extensively and find very little I can't accomplish with
it dollar for dollar it can't be beat. The cheaper version is limited
in its rendering capability and some tools, but is completely 3D
capable. They also have a CAM extension. Version 10 has introduced
NURBS as well, but I have not had a chance to use it yet, I have learned
to upgrade at the last possible minute with IMSI ( company that produces
TurboCAD). You can model anything, the limits of TurboCAD are in that
it is often a bit more difficult, little things like it does not handle
holes as an object, so if you want to move a hole, you create a plug to
fill it, 3d join, create a new hole shape, and 3d subtract it where you
want it. They have introduced facet editing in the last couple of
versions that are making this better, and I haven't tried the new Nurbs
yet. The version of TurboCAD on par with Autosketch(I have that as
well) is TurboCAD Learning edition which is available free (
http://nct.digitalriver.com/fulfill/0002.16) the only limitations is
that it is an older version and does not import newer dxf files.
