BDI-LIVE / Question for JON...

Jon:

I too am a convert... I'd love to get my emc running.. It boots and seems to
operate off the cdrom. What I love about Linux, well lots of FREE good
software out there Including the C++ programmers *I am still learning.
I am having trouble installing emc off release 23.. It loads onto the hard
drive, then while trying to boot it comes up "Grub".. Not got past that yet..

Question:
IS there a way to load another emc.ini file? perhaps off the OTHER linux
drive? what directory do I need to name? If so I may be able to try it on my
machine, A converted bridgeport.. IS there any good books to read ON
linux? I bought Linux for dummies and went through it in about 5 minutes,
not much else I have found.....

Rattle:
I downloaded AYAM (3d modeler) off the internet and have it working on my
other machine (redhat) this one is Mandrake 9.1 since I heard the RTlinux
would work with it.. I have not got there yet thou. If I was a lil brighter I'd write
a toolpath program for it.. Not there yet either thou.

What I am runnin:
Running turbocnc off a boot disc right now on my mill. IT will run on
DOS-EMU for Linux, It will boot off a floppy..

More rattle:
TRY, KNoppix cdrom (5$) off ebay or download and burn the
www.knoppix.net image.. it blowes away windows on internet speed on
charter.net cable... It too won't install without errors. It is great to use to get
lost information off WINDOWS machines when the OS crashes.. You can
copy off the data before you try to work-reinstall windows..

FUNNY about the rtlinux, I got a linux game disc, it runs fine on it on both
computers.. got the real time graph window going like the emc does..

Cheers...
David...
EMC sure looks great, not got to cut chips with it yet..
