The technical differences aren't all that significant. Either
one will work. I prefer RTAI because they are true open source.
The folks who did RTLinux have gone corporate and no longer

Kernel patches and loadable kernel modules and other stuff.
You need patched kernel first, then you load the modules
when you want to use the realtime features.
