I don't entirely blame them. My Gcode additions are highly non
standard. If they are concerned about keeping aligned with RS274, they
wouldn't be interested in my enhancements. We sure do appreciate them,
however.

Agreed. The tcnc group has just released version 4. I have not
upgraded, largely because I've got v3.x doing everything I need it to.

I installed emc before starting with tcnc. I am a Linux power user and
the tcnc computers are the only ones remaining that aren't running
Linux. As it sits right now, tcnc does two things that emc currently
doesn't: threading on a lathe and utilizing multiple feedwheels as input
devices. I consider both of these elements essential to our CNC
equipment.

I'm not feeling any big need to publish my code. I'm a strong proponent
of the Open Source movement, so I offer it (and "advice") wherever I
can, but I won't lose any sleep if our code never sees the light of day
on another system.

I am still very grateful that tcnc is "source available". Being able to
implement our own changes has been extremely helpful more than once.
