Hi jon and All:
THANKS FOR THE EDM INFO. I just picked up an old tap burner
in mechanically good condition but with poor electric's. My thoughts
were to make it over to a small EDM machine by mounting a cross table
on the table of the machine and using the tap burner head for the EDM
part of the machine. Your information on how to control the feed is
greatly apprecated.

better yet,
if you use an Mcode to define "I want feed" vs "I want gap control",
then the Mcode could switch a relay between the pot & the gap controlled 555.
