I don't have any direct experience with that, but I would bet against it.

I could be wrong.

Conventional wisdom is that ballscrews will have something like 1/4 of the friction of an acme screw, IIRC.

Of course, you will usually have a ballscrew with a faster pitch than the acme you are replacing, and so the table, carriage, whatever will be moving farther for each turn of the handwheel.

I'm not an expert, and I havent put ballscrews on my Bport (yet) but a tool
& die maker friend "warned" me that when I do, the screws will be tighter in
manual mode than the acme's. Specifically, I think he meant when you first
start to turn the dials. Perhaps after they get rolling its easier?
