The nut won't wear the screw as fast as the screw will wear the nut. But the screw will wear.

And the friction n a well-fitting acme or other leadscrew will be greater than in a ballscrew.

that's a new thought to me. i can see how rolling
could produce less wear over the long haul.
but i can't see how a brass nut is gonna wear down a
steel screw very fast. and a leadnut and backlash nut
are consumable parts, no?
