Hi, having rebuilt a lot of 6-71 injectors in the Navy, the number on the
injector is the minimum and maximum fuel amount per stroke. a 25-75 would
bring 100 hp. and an injector with 35-140 would be the largest fuel rate
giving the most horsepower. the "POP-off" pressure should be around 12,000
to 14,000 psi or more for a good injector.
now the ports and parts with metering orifices were made to work with
diesel, kerosene or #2 fuel... i dont know how well they would work with
water? and the parts are hardened steel and cast iron so water would not
contribute to long life. these injectors were driven by a cam much like
valves are in a gas engine. cul brian f.
