RAM is important. If you boosted up to 1GB on your 733, I think you'd find
the performance similar between W2K and XP.

I find that W2k runs quite a bit faster on similar hardware than XP.
It's probably not quite so bogged down with added value extras.

My VMC runs at 35kHz on a lowly 733MHz Celeron (256Mb ram) with W2K Pro
without any service packs, just a base install straight off the CD.
Add service pack 4 and it's pretty useless.

If you are using external motion controllers it ought to run on much less.
