This is no big deal. To get steel -- broken taps and drills , balls
off hex keys etc out of aluminum.
Mix some alum ) Aluminum or ammonium sulfate-- from grocery
store used to make eating pickles) solution or pickle acid pH
down pool treatment in a water solution and drop it down the
hole. this is a weak sulfuric acid solution.
The oil should probably be wiped out first. Watch the bubbles come
out!! Heat will speed it up. If the bubbles stop or slow down -
check. Duration will depend but check every so often. To do this
in your case rotate the hole down - drain the hole and see when
the piece falls out- repeat until it does-- eventually the set screw
will fall out -- this will take longer..
rinse well and dry.

Use a left-handed drill to drill it out ?

I have used left hand drills for a long time, but they have trouble with
the hardened set screws. If the set screw is broken sometimes they
will catch
on the cracks on the top, but in this case there are no cracks.
I was going to take it off, so I could mount a disc on the side for
putting
out the pulse that Mach needs for threading.
So I am now looking at other options so I can just forget the set
screw is
there.
