i have the 1600 oz kit i was thinking the 450 for more speed the 1600 s
need all the voltage you can get them and im contemplating higher voltage
drives. microstepping dramatically decreases the available torque , I half
step, the other concern you will have is the lead screws i get about .004
out of round due to backlash. ballscrews for your machine may not be that
high for my largemill though well lets say it will be next year :)
I have seen people use a piece of acetal bore a hole in it and slot it then
slide it over the screw and heat the screw with a heat gun to form the
threads not a ballscrew but much cheaper and less friction witout backlash
than acme just thoughts. have you bought mach yet? if not check out
linuxcnc.org
