I believe the factor is closer to 0.4537 unless something like g has an interesting perterbation in UK. However you never know.

I will agree that making the jump from 1 mm to 1 meter is nasty.
However orders of magnitude only make a real difference in pay checks. I should think that when doing one to one correspondence
for counting, etc. one would naturally us units that children could manipulate, e.g. cm and dm and maybe m.
Most of us can get a grip on that. :-)

the clinical lab people tend to use mg/dl. which seems a little unnatural but then you know those biologists.

Now having made everyone mad at me I will bail out.
