Re: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO]EMC in 10 minutes + 6 hours + ?

Hi,

I just installed ZipEMC on an old P60 machine running Win98 with very little
trouble. I used Winzip 8.0 and it installed itself like a dream. I just
have one problem - it won't see the serial mouse so do I have to re-compile
the kernel or is there an easier way to get this working? If I do have to
recompile, is there anything I should know - i.e. is it any different to
building a new kernel on a fully linux machine? Is the kernel source and
headers already in the distribution somewhere?

As for running EMC, Sim.run worked OK but Generic.run told me it can't find
emc.ini and something else (can't remember what). I'll try transferring my
run files from another machine when I get a minute.

This is the first time I've had Linux fired up on a Windoze box and I must
say it's very impressive. Its a shame the start up sequence can't include a
sound file saying "Up yours Bill Gates!" or something similar!!

I'm a little confused as to why there is a .tar.gz version on the CD - if I
untarred this on a Linux machine would it run as a second installation?
