Well, you can still control the machine with MDI commands.
But, what if the spindle motor fails? Yank a rope wrapped around the pulley and try to
mill fast before the tool stops spinning again? What if the encoders fail?
Strap a dial caliper to the table so you can keep measuring?
What if your last good end mill breaks in the middle of a job?
Finish the part with your Swiss army knife?
