you mentioned that this usualy happens on longer posts
it could be that the server has timed out while you were wrighting and
will no longer accept the page
I dont know if that would be the egroups server or your local ISPs

as others have said
the stuff you type is in memory and would just be lost
IF the page does get cached it would be in the temporary internet files
folder in the windows directory with a random filename (good luck finding it)
?will hitting the "back" button in your browser bring it ..well.. back ?
I havent tried it yet ,you might give it a test if you havent already

anyway for long posts compose localy and paste into a fresh webpage
just dont kill notepad until you know its gone thru
