Fred,

First of all, i was NOT therorizing! After many years of working with
compound angles FOR A LIVING, I was pretty damn sure I knew what I was
talking about.

Sure...if you have a CNC machine you can tilt the part. If you don't have
one, your stuck with tilting the head.

Since I do have a life of my own, I didn't have the time to sit down and
DRAW a sketch indicating the required grinding angle for you on a moments
notice. I did say (see below) I'd have to DRAW this and calculate the
angles.

Since your so impatient, and assume I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm
posting a jpg drawing that shows very clearly what the angle needs to be
ground to for the particular angle of elevation shown. The picture is
plainf enough that anyone with a modicum of knowledge of geometry and trig
can solve the grind angles for other angles of elevation as well as maximum
depth of hole without interference, or angles for tilting the head on manual
machines. You'll also be able to solve the grind angle in case you want to
machine holes having 3, 4, 5, or any other number of sides.

I've got to run...have more PERSONAL things to do this morning
