The Taig spindle is a 3/4"-16TPI thread (same as the Sherline, but longer &
with a different register). The taper for the collets is a non-standard
design - 15 degree taper if I remember correctly - not even close to a
Morse. It struck me a while back that the nose/collet closer on the MaxNC
looked remarkably like the Taig; seeing the pics of the collets on that
website confirmed it.
Taig make their own collets in-house - remarkably inexpensive compared to
the alternatives; probably not as accurate as some, but at the price, very
good value.
